WY: Yellowstone Bisons

An American Bison

Not many animals appeared near the tourist-packed geothermal features of Yellowstone National Park.  The runoff from the hot springs limited grass growth.  The elk napping near the Mammoth Hot Spring Terraces parking lot was a rare exception.

On the road, however, we spotted a few American Bisons (Bison bison).  One was actually walking on the road in the direction of traffic until it climbed up a slope and disappeared behind the pine trees.
